Before you head out

Good questions grow here.

Everything you need to know before your first identification.

What can TreeID identify?

TreeID is designed to identify trees from photos. Its image recognition analyzes visible traits including leaves, bark, fruit, and the tree’s overall shape.

What does an identification include?

Results can include the species and scientific name, native region, care information, growth facts, environmental benefits, and trivia.

Can I save trees I discover?

Yes. Your field journal can hold identified trees along with notes, photos, and location data. The discovery map lets you revisit where each find happened.

Can TreeID diagnose an unhealthy tree?

The health check can scan for visible signs of disease, pests, or dehydration and suggest practical care steps. Image recognition is not a substitute for expert botanical advice, so verify important findings with a local expert.

How much does TreeID cost?

TreeID is free to download. Access to the full suite of services requires a TreeID Weekly subscription at $4.99 per week. Subscriptions can be managed or canceled in your Apple Account settings.

Which devices can run TreeID?

TreeID is available on the App Store for devices running iOS 18.2 or later.
